Enable RDP Feature in Windows Home Edition

Installing and Using RDP Wrapper

Extract the ZIP File:

  • Locate the downloaded ZIP file in your Downloads folder.
  • Right-click the file and select "Extract All..." to extract the contents to a folder of your choice.

Run the Installer:

  • Open the extracted folder and run install.bat as an administrator. To do this, right-click install.bat and select "Run as administrator".

Check the Installation:

  • After the installation is complete, run RDPConf.exe to check the status of the RDP Wrapper.
  • Ensure that all items show as "green" (fully supported). If they do not, you may need to update the configuration.

Download the Latest INI File:

  • Sometimes, the included INI file may be outdated. Download the latest rdpwrap.ini from this page if needed.
  • Replace the existing rdpwrap.ini in the C:\Program Files\RDP Wrapper directory with the downloaded one.

Restart RDP Wrapper:

  • After replacing the INI file, run RDPConf.exe again to check the status.
  • If it still shows errors, you may need to restart your computer.

Open Remote Desktop Settings:

  • Go to Settings > System > Remote Desktop.
  • Toggle the switch to enable Remote Desktop.

Allow RDP Through Firewall:

  • Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Defender Firewall > Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.
  • Make sure "Remote Desktop" is checked for both private and public networks.
